For twenty-two years I worked in HR for a large insurance company in Manchester. I ran restructures, wrote policies nobody read and sat across the table from a great many people on the worst day of their working lives. At forty-nine I sat on the other side of that table myself, and it was the best thing that ever happened to me, though it took a year to admit it. Now I coach people through career changes from my kitchen in Chorlton, with a lot of tea and a dog called Biscuit under the table. My books are short because my readers are busy. They are honest because I have had enough of the other kind.
